Mentoring & Training

Professional mentoring and guidance to other health practitioners in establishing themselves as CBT therapists is available. It is foreseen that a national standard for CBT practice will be set in SA in the near future, as is recommended internationally. Workshops to aid those that work in disadvantaged communities and that accommodate specific cultural groups exist in many countries. This is a developmental area in SA with growth potential.

A ten week, internationally supervised course in Cognitive Therapy in view of certification is available in Pretoria from June 2016. Please email for more detail.

Mindfulness

What is mindfulness? It is being aware of and being in the present moment, without any form of judgment, by just experiencing the here and now. It is learning to receive what happens in life, rather than to react to or try to change it. Attention is focused on the present, rather than on the past or future. In mindfulness we take an observant and curious stance to what happens, whether it be pleasant or unpleasant.

There are several benefits to practicing mindfulness. Physical health improves, less worry and criticism ensues, more acceptance and difference in relating to experiences are achieved.
