Female Sexual Pain

Cbt Therapy For Pain CbttherapistCharacteristics
Female Sexual Pain (FSP) includes chronic and/or intermittent pain experienced in or around the vulva, vagina, or uterus. Common FSP problems include chronic pelvic pain, vaginismus (tightening of the vaginal muscles upon penetration), dyspareunia (pain during sex), and vulvodynia (pain in the vulva).

The pain associated with FSP is often described as a sharp pain in and around the vulva, inside the vagina, or a cramping in the muscles in the area (but different than what menstrual cramps feel like)

The majority of women will experience some form of pain during intercourse at least once in their lifetimes, often due to inadequate lubrication. The vulva is comprised of soft, delicate tissue that can become sensitive and painful during intercourse without sufficient lubrication or with intense penetration. However, if the pain persists after several days or continues to occur after several acts of intercourse, it is important to see a specialist.

Note that not all doctors will be familiar with FSP and this lack of awareness of FSPs means that they are oftentimes misdiagnosed, and thus not treated correctly. An obstetrician/gynecologist who specializes in FSP can recognize and treat this pain with medication, and may also recommend physical therapy and psychological therapy. Waiting too long for an appropriate diagnosis can make it much more difficult to detect the cause of the pain, as emotional and relationship difficulties become linked to the physical pain. So, don't “tough it out,” but get help as soon as possible.

Treatment
CBT combined with traditional medicine has a long history of success in treating other types of pain. It's also used successfully for treating FSP. People who use CBT for chronic FSP see that women with FSP treated with CBT experience great improvement or complete relief of symptoms 6 months after treatment in almost half the cases. Even better, relief from pain is maintained or even improved upon over the next two years. One study found that almost 80% of women said they were “cured” after using CBT and physical therapy.

Cbt Therapy For Pain has had great success in treatment, allowing women to get back on track and live a healthy lifestyle. Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD)

Psychotherapist In Gauteng CbttherapistNarcissistic personality disorder is a mental disorder in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance, a deep need for admiration and a lack of empathy for others. But behind this mask of ultra-confidence lies a fragile self-esteem that's vulnerable to the slightest criticism. Narcissism pervades the entire personality. It is all-pervasive. Being a narcissist is akin to being an alcoholic but much more so. Alcoholism is an impulsive behaviour.

Narcissists exhibit dozens of similarly reckless behaviours, some of them uncontrollable (like their rage, the outcome of their wounded grandiosity). Narcissism is not a vocation. Narcissism resembles depression or other disorders and cannot be changed at will. Narcissistic personality disorder treatment is centred on talk therapy, also called psychotherapy.

A Psychotherapist In Gauteng can help you:
•Learn to relate better with others so your relationships are more intimate, enjoyable and rewarding
•Understand the causes of your emotions and what drives you to compete, to distrust others, and perhaps to despise yourself and others
Because personality traits can be difficult to change, therapy may take several years. Areas of change are directed at helping you accept responsibility and learning to:
•Accept and maintain real personal relationships and collaboration with co-workers
•Recognize and accept your actual competence and potential so you can tolerate criticisms or failures
•Increase your ability to understand and regulate your feelings
•Understand and tolerate the impact of issues related to your self-esteem
•Release your desire for unattainable goals and ideal conditions and gain an acceptance of what's attainable and what you can accomplish.

CBT Boosts Your Self Confidence

Cognitive Behavioural Therapist Pretoria Cbt Therapist

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a blanket-term for psychotherapy systems which define psychological dysfunctions as learned beliefs, interpretations, and responses as problematic behaviour, with the aim of influencing or changing those problematic emotions and behaviours.

(CBT) is based on the assumption that most emotional and behavioural reactions are learned.
Therefore, the goal of therapy is to help clients unlearn their unwanted reactions and to learn a new way of reacting.

Many of the CBT principles adopt stoicism: the emotional indifference, especially admirable patience and endurance shown in the face of adversity. Our Cognitive Behavioural Therapist Pretoria based has a goal to conduct treatment sessions in a way that promotes the persons self-esteem, dignity, and self-worth while teaching him or her to unlearn problematic behaviour and replace it with more positive and helpful behaviour.

No one would dispute the fact that addictive behaviour is problematic; however, unlearning it is an impossible task since addiction is not a learned response. This emotional trauma directly relates to the addicted persons self-esteem, and for all intent and purposes can be defined as a self-esteem issue.

Self-esteem is defined as having self-respect and confidence in your own merit as an individual person. So, how does one obtain a greater sense of self worth or a high level of self-esteem? Is it a commodity that can be purchased, a fruit that can be plucked from a tree, or a behaviour that can be learned?

Self-esteem can be learned through CBT. You see, possessing confidence and merit as a person is a product of self-love, and that comes from within. CBT principles are based on stoicism which promotes the passive approach of patience and endurance in the face of adversity.

In summary, the primary purpose of CBT is to teach addicted people to modify their problematic behaviour by unlearning and replacing it more helpful behaviour, which will lead to an increase in self-esteem.

Change Your Habits And Thoughts

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy South Africa CbttherapistCognitive Behavioural Therapy South Africa based has been developed in order to help educational institutions with home assignments success. The Cognitive Behavioral theory emphasizes the ability of clients to make changes in their own lives without having to understand why changes occur, but such theories generally demand the client to do considerable work, such as homework writing assignments and practice of techniques learned. Failure to complete tasks assigned is taken as a lack of motivation and unwillingness to change behaviours.

The therapy deals with changing the thought patterns, as the way we perceive situations influences our emotional feelings. So behaviours can be changed once the thoughts start to change. Cognitive Behavioral therapy helps overcome a myriad of problems like depression and mood swings, panic attacks, social anxiety, obsessions and compulsions, chronic anxiety or worry, eating disorders, insomnia and other sleep disorders, difficulty establishing or staying in relationships, substance abuse, and career problems.

Cognitive behavioural therapy applies two very basic and highly effective tools, cognitive therapy and behaviour therapy. Behaviour therapy helps one to weaken the connections between troublesome situations and their habitual reactions to them. Reactions like fear, depression or rage, and self-defeating or self-damaging behaviour. The therapy also teaches you how to calm your mind and body, so you can feel better, think more clearly, and take better decisions.

The rational behind behaviour therapy is that anxiety is maintained by the person’s reactions to symptoms, by avoiding loss of confidence and anxiety producing symptoms. The therapy teaches how to control anxiety by using a variety of techniques like relaxing the mind , or by reengaging into pleasurable or pleasant activities to build confidence.
